Admissions Process
2025/2026 AND 2026/2027 Admissions Process is open!
The admissions process is handled through Douglas County School District Central Admissions. This process is for new students who have moved into the Sierra Middle School boundary area.
If you are new to the area or to DCSD and need to get setup for this school year or for next school year, you can click the link below to fill out the admissions paperwork.
If you already have students in the district and you are needing to enroll another student for your household, please go to this link and login to your Infinite Campus:
Enrolling a New Student For Your Household
**It can also be changed into other languages**
Required Documents to complete Admissions Paperwork:
Missing or incorrect documents WILL DELAY this process, as it will be returned for corrections.
-
Parent/Guardian government-issued ID
-
Birth Certificate of Student
-
Current Immunization Record for Student
-
Proof of Residency: Warranty Deed, Deed of Trust, Property Tax Notice, Lease Agreement, County Assessor Page or Notarized Proof of Residency letter from the person you are living with (if your name doesn't appear on the proof of residency) along with a copy of their proof of residency.
If your student is a current student in the district and you were not in the Sierra boundaries but you have now moved into Sierra boundaries, please complete the following:
1. Contact your student's current school registrar to update your address in the system. They will need proof of residency so please have that ready (if you rent: lease, if you own: warranty deed or you can find proof on the County Assessor's page online).
2. Let the registrar know that you also want to switch schools to Sierra and specify if it's for this year right away or next school year. If you want to wait until next school year, the registrar will have you fill out an Intent to Remain to stay at that school for the rest of the school year.
3. The registrar will contact Sierra's registrar to get your student's line of enrollment moved over for either this year or next, whatever you decide.
If your student is a current student in the district and you have not moved and are currently in the Sierra boundaries but your student attends a different school (either charter or neighbor), you will need to complete Open Enrollment in order to return to your boundary school. Please see the tab about Open Enrollment for more information.
Open Enrollment - 2026/2027
Open enrollment policies provide increased education options within traditional public schooling. Open enrollment allows parents to select the best public schools for their children, regardless of where those schools are located. This means that parents can choose any public school within the District on a space-available basis.
OPEN ENROLLMENT
Round Two is now open through August 3, 2026 at 4:00pm
Round Two is first come, first serve.
Open Enrollment applies to the following school year (beginning in August).
If a student was put on the waitlist during the first round, they will still be on the list for the second round. Schools will ONLY reach out to families through email when and if a spot becomes available. You must watch your emails as you may loose your spot if you don't reply to an offer email within the allotted time. Refer to District Policies JCA/JFB and JCA/JFB-R for more detail. District policy states that any student shall be allowed to attend any school of their choice for which they are eligible on a space available basis, subject to district policy.
If you are open enrolled at a neighborhood school or attend a DCSD-Authorized Charter School, but would like to return to the neighborhood school associated with your address for the next school year (26/27), you must file an intent to return form by January 9, 2026. If you miss this date, you must open enroll to return to your address assigned school, and enrollment is not guaranteed.
Please note: If you are currently attending your address-assigned neighborhood school, there is nothing you need to do at this time if you wish to remain.
The intent to return process does not apply if you are home schooling, attending a non-DCSD Charter School, attending an out-of-district school, or private school. Please reach out directly to your address assigned school for more information.

School Supply List - Click here for the SMS School Supply List. We limit the amount of supplies students need to purchase for themselves by asking families to donate items that can be divided amongst the different classrooms (like pencils, markers, glue, tissues, etc.). This is a HUGE help to our teachers and students so thank you for your donations.
