Kelly Stewart - 7th Grade Counselor for Students Last Name A-K

Hello Parents, Staff, and Students!

I'm Kelly Stewart, and it's truly a pleasure to be a part of the Sierra Counseling team, working alongside you to support our wonderful students. My aim is always to be a strong advocate for students while also providing the best possible support to both parents and staff.

My background in education and counseling is quite extensive. I earned my Master's Degree in Education and Counseling from Keene State College in New Hampshire, and furthered my education with a Post-Master's in Education Leadership from the College of Saint Joseph in Vermont. My career in school counseling began in the beautiful state of Vermont, at Rutland High School and Fair Haven Union High School, where I had the privilege of serving as both a counselor and an administrator. When my family moved to Fort Worth, Texas, in 2013, I continued my passion for guiding students as a middle and high school counselor for Keller ISD. Now, in my fourth year at Sierra Middle School, I am incredibly grateful to continue building relationships with our students and their families.

At home, my husband is a special educator and coach, and we have two amazing high schoolers who are embracing all the opportunities that DCSD has to offer!

Please know that my door is always open. If you have any questions or concerns, big or small, don't hesitate to reach out. I'm here to help, and if I don't have the answer right away, I'll make sure to connect you with someone who does!

Jill Pries - 8th Grade Counselor for Students Last Name A-K

Hello Sierra Students, Parents and Community,

I'm thrilled to be joining your school's amazing staff and leaders in the Fall of 2025.  As a Colorado native, I bring 15 years of experience in education, including 5 years as a school counselor. I am passionate about helping students in developing a strong sense of community belongingness and cultivating healthy key relationships.  I believe a core to middle school success is helping young people know and appreciate their own unique strengths, interests, values and individual learning styles, in order to thrive.

Having recently moved to Parker from the mountains, I am amazed at this beautiful, friendly community that I get to be a part of. I have family in this area, and in my free time I love hiking, gardening, reading and listening to music. At home, my husband Rob and I are entertained by our very energetic puppy, Scooter.

Hello SMS Parents, Students, and Families!

I’m thrilled to be starting my 8th year at Sierra Middle School—what a wonderful place it is to learn and grow! My philosophy as a school counselor is to inspire and empower students to be the best version of themselves. I’m here to support students with academic, career, and social-emotional needs.

I earned my master’s degree in both School and Clinical Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado in December 2015. Before becoming a school counselor, I worked as a treatment counselor in a residential facility for teens. That experience sparked my passion for working with middle school students, especially in helping them build resiliency and strong coping skills.

Outside of work, I enjoy crafting—diamond painting and loom knitting are my favorites! I also love spending time with my husband, our six-year-old daughter, and our two sweet skinny pigs - Seedot and Magby.

I’m excited to partner with you this school year. Please don’t hesitate to reach out by phone or email—I’m here to help!

Tamra Maupin - GT Coordinator/Counselor for Multilingual Families

Hello Parents, Staff and Students!

My name is Tamra Maupin and I am excited and honored to be part of the Sierra Counseling Team an to work with your students! Parents and Staff, my goal is to support you in the best way I know how while also advocating for students.

After graduating from Smoky Hill High School, I attended Baker University and majored in Theatre.  I added a Psychology major which became my passion.  I chose to pursue this passion after college and I worked in five different psychiatric hospitals with children, adolescents, adults and older adults.  Through these experiences, and my volunteer time with a youth organization called Young Life, I decided that a school was where I was meant to be.  I received my Masters Degree in Educational Counseling from the University of Phoenix.  I began my school counseling career at ThunderRidge High School in Douglas County, where I was the Post-Graduate Coordinator and counselor for eight years.  This is my 14th year at Sierra, and I love working with middle school students!  This year I will be expanding my role and will be working with Sierra's Gifted and Talented students in small groups on ALP goals.  I will also be the assigned counselor for our multilingual families who are part of our English Language Development program or families who need interpretation.  I am excited for this new adventure!  As a counselor, I will also be working with all Sierra students to begin exploring careers, college, and life after high school.  So much fun!

I have an amazing husband who teaches math at Sierra, and two incredible high school boys who are the light of my life.   I am currently trying to learn Spanish to better support our multilingual families which is another passion of mine!

Feel free to contact me if you ever have questions or concerns.  I am here to help, and if I don't know the answer, I will find someone who does!
